The Hotel Room

Clutching the covers
So high off you I might fly away
You’ve got your skirt pulled up twirling in impossible directions
As a kid the roller coasters made my stomach churn
But the way you move makes my heart burn
I can tell you’re uncertain by your eyes
Yes, some play it safe with these kind of things
Create rickety boats to navigate the treacherous waters of marriage
But I’d rather plunge into passion than capsize
“I”..but she holds a finger to my lips
“Shh baby you’re talking too much”
And then she’s there and I’m there but we’re both off somewhere
Any poetic attempt at description couldn’t be fair
I was lost without a care when you pulled away and I was met with a blank stare
And the dream always ended there
Alone in my mind with fantasies playing themselves out in shadows on the wall
Guess we all have moments of desire that taunt us
Have to check out soon
And leave this hotel room behind
