The Anatomy of Tears

The Anatomy of Tears
Slow and struggling, trying to be a man
Hard and fast, happy or sad
Some we wipe away furiously in denial of the pain
Others we let run into the corners of our mouth
Salty memories we’d rather not feel again
Others we would collect if we could, and dance in the rain
Some a mental mind wash
Some a soul shower
We may feel weak but they all give us power
It’s the most intimate confession
The hearts true profession
Tears come in all forms but always teach us a lesson
Never be afraid of self-expression

The Hotel Room

Clutching the covers
So high off you I might fly away
You’ve got your skirt pulled up twirling in impossible directions
As a kid the roller coasters made my stomach churn
But the way you move makes my heart burn
I can tell you’re uncertain by your eyes
Yes, some play it safe with these kind of things
Create rickety boats to navigate the treacherous waters of marriage
But I’d rather plunge into passion than capsize
“I”..but she holds a finger to my lips
“Shh baby you’re talking too much”
And then she’s there and I’m there but we’re both off somewhere
Any poetic attempt at description couldn’t be fair
I was lost without a care when you pulled away and I was met with a blank stare
And the dream always ended there
Alone in my mind with fantasies playing themselves out in shadows on the wall
Guess we all have moments of desire that taunt us
Have to check out soon
And leave this hotel room behind
